Often the famous “Achtung Minen” sign is offered as a counterfeit…. Our sign is taken directly from an original from the D-Day museum in Vierville sur Mer and is almost indistinguishable from this!
Completely handmade and painted with authentic materials.
Size and color are also exactly like the old sign.

Prisoners of war did not only have to clear mines at Danish posts. Several tens of thousands, perhaps even up to 50,000 German soldiers were deployed on similar tasks in France after 1945: On the coasts of Normandy and southern France, the explosive remains of the Atlantic Wall had to be removed; in addition, hundreds of thousands of tree trunks were placed in the hinterland to prevent landings by cargo gliders and paratroopers at tactically sensitive locations. In September 1945, French authorities estimated that 2,000 German minesweepers were killed every month; the exact number of actual casualties has never been determined.
