This road has a historical significance as it was a part of the invasion route of Allied forces during the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. A remarkable Michelin sign was erected on this road, in rue de Pasteur at St Aubin sur Mer (Sword Beach) on June 2, 1938, which was unfortunately hit by a Canadian bullet on D-Day. However, this sign has been preserved and restored periodically since then.
