POTEAU MICHELIN COLLEVILLE OVERLORD

Here you can see the Poteau Michelin version of our “stubborn” Colleville sur Mer reproduction, for which no information can be found in the Michelin archive or in Colleville itself. According to some residents of Colleville, it can be assumed that this Poteau Michelin was damaged or removed during the busy transports to and from Omaha Beach in 1944. The photo of the original was taken on D-Day on the main road GC32 (currently D 514). In the Jeep, US MPs can be seen transporting German prisoners under guard towards Omaha Beach to be transported to England.
